Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi doctor, I m Gladys, I would like to ask what this blood test result means: Hypochromic RBCs with mild anosocytosis and poikilocytosis. presence of microcytes, teardrop cells, ovalocytes, schizocytes and RBC fragments are noted. Leukocytes adequate. Platelets adequate. No blast cells seen.
This is your peripheral smear study report, which means your blood drop is put on a slide and examined under microscope for the nature of each blood cell.
First part says about red blood cells(RBCs), it says you have slight variation in shape and size of your RBCs, and there are some unusual cells too. All these things are found associated with some type of anemia(condition of deficiency of red cells or Haemoglobin).
The rest of the cells are normal.
