Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
doctor just told me that my blood had infection & suspect me thalassemia. my abnormal blood result as below; haematocrit (pcv) =0.36 mcv=75 mch=25 polymorphs=73 ESR (westgren)=58 please advise me whether i need to do further test . curious person of female, 30 years old
Thalassemia can not be confirmed by this report. For confirmation of thalassemia, you will need HB electrophoresis report. For infection, you can need a total count (TC). So get done TC and blood culture reports to rule out infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
