What Does This Chest X-ray Report Indicate?

What does this mean, I just had my chest x-ray done this morning: Improved aeration of the left lung base. Left basilar linear atelectasis or scarring. Small left pleural effusion. Cardiomediastinal silhouette enlarged, stable. Tortuous aorta. Status post median sternotomy. Prosthetic cardiac valve. Old distal left clavicular fracture.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your reports are normal and you need not to worry. you must have undergone prosthetic valve replacement surgery and your report shoes postoperative changes with midline sternotomy and clavicular fracture there is a collapse of left lower lung but aeration have improved from previous reports. so there is no need of worry and you should continue your ongoing medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
