Hi Supama,

I am sorry for the situation your father is in.

Normal creatinine levels are up to 1.2 mg/dL. In older adults (as in case of your father) the creatine might be higher than normal (acceptable level up to 2 mg/dL).

In case of your father, the creatinine level is 4.5 which is considered high and is indicating possible kidney problems. I highly recommend to consult with his doctor to determine what is causing such impairment and the best treatment.

Possible factors might include:
- metabolic diseases (e.g. diabetes)
- chronic kidney infection
- kidney damages due to medications he takes on daily basis.

Hope it was of help!
