What Does This Lower Abdominal Ultra Sound Scan Finding Indicate?

Hi Doctor, I m 46 yrs old, ht 158cms, wt 60kgs and facing pre menopausal problem, sometimes irregular menstruation. Yesterday i went for USG after around 1 month of my monthly period which shows uterus is bulky measures 8.1*4.1*5.2cms, no evidence of fibroids, endometrium 6.1mm, cavity empty, left ovary is 3.5*3.1cms, shows a cyst with internal echoes, mmeasuring 2.2*2.2cms cyst . Rest of the report is normal. what does it mean? Pls guide me.

Hi,

Ultrasound report is analysed on clinical back ground, including findings on abdominal and vaginal examination. Anyhow, the report you mentioned is grossly normal, except there is an ovarian cyst, which is not uncommon in this age. But as it contains internal echos, may need more detailed evaluation with CT scan, depending on clinical back ground. Your doctor will discuss in detail.
