Hi,
I understand your concern.
Normally heart beat can be detected by abdominal USG by 5 weeks 1 day after last menstrual period ( of a regular cycle)
* In case like yours, I would advise repeat scan after one week.there are two possibilities-
1)The heart activity may not be seen due to late conception/ weakness of the pregnancy due to the bleeding.
- medicines are given along with hormonal support to the fetus .along with bed rest,
. - a repeat scan is done after one week to check the appearance of heart sound.
2) In 10 weeks pregnancy, abscence of heart beat & fetal size of 6 weeks fetus with subchorionic bleeding ( filling upto 1/3rd of the sac) indicates arrest of fetal growth at 6 weeks due to the bleeding. It is termed as ?missed abortion.
- To confirm the diagnosis a repeat scan is done after one week. If the same findings are there, termination of pregnancy is indicated.
Thanks
