Hallow madam,

I have read your report provided by you and have understood the concern.

The implantation of products of conception takes place usually in the upper segment of uterus. In your case it seems to have happened in the lower part.

However, as the pregnancy grows, the lower segment of the uterus is formed from the cervix of the uterus. So it is likely that the placenta may go higher up. However, close watch has to be kept with ultrasonographic monitoring of the placental position. Placenta in the lower segment of the uterus is known as Placenta praevia. In any event of even minor bleeding vaginally, you have to report to the Obstetrician and rush to the hospital. Subsequent episodes of bleeding are more likely to be very heavy.

Moreover, you have a fibroid in the anterior wall. This not only will affect the uterine contractions but will obstruct in taking the incision if caesarean section is to be done on you, which is very likely if placenta praevia persists.

You are having two conditions which may cause heavy bleeding. Hence, you must deliver in hospital only and keep the blood ready.

You will have to consult your Obstetrician more frequently. And as you have been advised, will have to take bed rest. However, bed rest does not prevent the placental separation and bleeding of placenta praevia since such bleeding is causeless, painless and repetitive. Therefore for prompt medical help, usually we keep such patients hospitalised in the second half of pregnancy.

I have given you much of the information. Please take care. If any further information is required, I am always available for you either on direct question or on nishikants@gmail.com.
