What Does This Semen Analysis Report For Fertility Indicate?

Hi doc, since Jan 2012 till date,my husband has had more than 10 semen analysis .The results have been coming up as normal sperm count ( between 43-204 million/mls.2- 3ml)the mophology always at 90% normal and 10% abnormal forms. Motility has always been between 1-3% motile and the rest dead. The progression usually 0-1% active while the rest are always sluggish. However,we decided to try by improving on his diet for the rest of this year before we give up on trying naturally. To our surprise, the last two results that we did (after I stated taking care of his diet )came back with 8% motility and 2% progression. 2 weeks after that, the second result came in today with 10% motility with 0% progression. My question here is that does this result seem to be improving and can we achieve the normal numbers over time? We have also ordered for the fertility aid and motility boost suppliment hoping that it may help. Pls, are we on the right tract or we should simply not keep our hopes up.We had failed at IVF once and we are still servicingg the loan till date no IVF is not an option for us now.Am 34 and he is 40.Is there any hope for our situation.

Hello,

The normal motility as per WHO standards is above 40%. There is a good chance of conception even with low motility with assisted reproductive techniques which are less expensive than IVF like IUI (intra-uterine insemination). I suggest you to consult your fertility expert for selection of best option.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
