I have been having problems with memory and it is affecting my work. I am tired all the time. I recently had a sleep study that showed 3 episodes of obstructive apnea 142 arousals and 0% REM. The doctor suggested a CPAP. I had another sleep test for CPAP titration. 0 sleep obstruction, multiple arousals, 5 central apneas, and again 0% REM. If a person doesn t get any REM sleep, won t that affect memory and how can it be treated?
Thank you for your question on healthcare magic. when you have an arousal your sleep cycle gets out from REM. The arousals in general don't let you get all the stages of sleep and REM is the last stage and is the most deep of sleep stages. You have been reccomanded CPAP as treatment and CPAP hopefully will stop your arosuals and help your sleep go through the stages of sleep including REM
