What Does This Thyroid Profile Test Report Indicate?

Recent Thyroid profile test of my father (age: 62) TSH less than. 01, T4 14.70, T3 1.73 2 months back TSH 7.42, T3 & T4 within normal range Based on old test where TSH was 7.42, doctor prescribed 25mcg thyronorm. Now TSH has dropped to very low. What should be done to control the hormone levels? Please suggest whether he should stop taking thyronorm or not? Any other medication or remedies?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As per my clinical experience, the current presentation suggests as the T3 and T4 are fairly under control and TSH is dropped significantly low level, that indicates that the dose reduction of Thyronorm (as sudden stoppage will also create problems.)

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
