What Does This Ultrasonic Colour Doppler Report Indicate?

Hi my wife is 36 week pregnent now & her colour doppler report showa as under... -Placenta is fundo anterior with grade 3 maturity & lower segment is free. No sizeable retroplacental clot. Internal os closed - single umbilical cord loop around fetal neck -now i want to asked was it mean? She will give natural birth after all this report?

Hello,

Her placenta is normal in position and maturity. The placenta is the structure which is a connection between fetus and mother and responsible for the transfer of blood flow, oxygen and nutrients to the fetus.

Internal os remains closed till the time of delivery and a premature opening of it can cause premature delivery.

It is closed in case of your wife. The only issue is a loop of umbilical cord around the neck of the baby.

It may or may not be an indication of a cesarean section if it does not unfold or prevents the proper descent of the baby during delivery.
