Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
An ultrasound shows something on my ovary. The ultrasound tech said it s a cyst and it s the size of my uterus. My doctor s office is now suggesting a CT scan, but why not do a MRI? Wouldn t that be better and it doesn t have radiation? Is CT better than MRI? I m not concerned about insurance or cost. I m wondering if they plan to do a CT and then send me for an MRI anyway.
A CT would better visualize the current condition and the cyst being the size of your ovary is really large and most probably requiring surgery. An MRI will also help but it provides details which at this point in time and with your presentation are unnecessary. But if you wish for an MRI you can ask for it, no harm no loss.
Best wishes.
