What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Mildly prominent pancreatic duct measuring 4 mm was found through ultrasound exam. I m awaiting ct scan results. I ve had a gastric bypass surgery almost 2 years ago. Ultrasound found fatty liver had cleared up and liver is unremarkable now. No stones were found and gall bladder was also unremarkable. What is the next step for treatment?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You have to wait for CT scan result. Normally, Wirsung (pancreatic duct) is up to 3 mm. 4 mm is over the limits but it can be something residual, which means that you could have passed some form of pancreatitis and now Wirsung has remained a little bit dilated. Another possibility is that something in the body or head of the pancreas or in ampulla water obstruct the duct. The CT and biochemical analysis could do the differential diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Klodian
