What Does This Ultrasound Report Mean?

Recent ultrasound indicated homogeneous liver with increased echotexture, numerous hepatic cysts, 18 cm size of liver, and hepatic steatosis. I am 59, female and overweight. I had no intrahepatic or extrahepatic bilary dilation. Common bile duct is 6 cm. Fatty liver? What else? Thank you.

Hello,

This is just a fatty liver, nothing more. Obesity, diabetes and significant alcohol consumption are the three most common causes of fate liver. Loosing some weight would definitely help and reduce the risk for complications like cirrhosis or steatohepatitis.

I hope I've helped!
