What Does This Ultrasound Report Of A Pregnant Woman Specify?
The fetal anomaly scan shows Single live fetus of 23 w3d in breech presentation with mild pelvicaliectesis in left fetal kidney the report says (left-4.2mm; right-3.5mm), is it a major problem ? how it will affect my kid ? What kind of precaution i should take ?
Breech presentation is one of the types of fetal positions in mother’s womb which might or might not change eventually as the pregnancy progresses. Pelvicaliectasis is enlargement of the fetal kidneys. The cause is unknown and it’s found in very few pregnancies and it’s not considered a serious condition. So do not worry. Do regular follow ups and follow doctor’s advice regularly.
Another scan might be performed in the third trimester to see the overall progress of the fetus. Post natal ultrasound of the fetus is advised usually and with follow up with a pediatrician to see the growth of the baby’s kidneys. I suggest talk to your doctor about it so that she can guide you appropriately further with management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
