General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for your query.
I am truly sorry that you are undergoing this stress.
i will do me best to explain

A human starts life as a ball of cells that develop into different organs and tissues based in the information given in the cells genetic material.
external factors can influence growth and development too( like nutrition and health of the mother, medication, tobacco and alcohol use for instance)

the first systems to form are the brain and its associated structures and the cardiovascular system. the brain and spine develop from the neural tube which seals itself in the first month of pregnancy.
when this remains open brain or nerve tissue protrudes out and gets damaged ( normally it is protected by bone- skull and spine.). this can lead to abnormal development of the baby.
The location of the encrphalocele (brain tissue protrusuion) that you mentioned is associated with more brain tissue involvement compared with other locations which is not favorable.

Folic acid deficiency can increase risk for neural tube defects ( it is usually advices to initiate folic acid supplements 3 months before you try to conceive)

I recommend a consult with your obgyn and a medical team that specializes in fetal and neonatal medicine. get a second, even a third opinion if you have to, but make an informed decision. they should be able to tell you what exactly it is, how big it I is, where it is what are the consequences should you decide to continue with the pregnancy and possible complications and treatment plans you need to prepare for your baby.
special help and support groups can help.
Deciding to continue or not is entirely in your hands. Get at least two different specialists to concur on the dianosis and prognosis.

I hope I've helped. please feel free to get back to us if you need further clarification.
wish you both good health
