The ultrasound has just detected a hypoechoic nodule in the left lobe of my thyroid measuring 17x7x3 and the they suggest I do a biopsy with it. 6 months ago, there was nodule only in the right lobe and the biopsy showed no cancer. Do you think the sudden appearance of a big, hypoechoic one on the left lobe may be a sign of cacerous development? Thank you so much for your time.

welcome to hcm...please try to understand that thyroid nodule has to be evaluated by biopsy ..it is necessary investigation ..let the report come ..as you had nodule in other lobe it becomes all the more necessary to evaluate nodule ..also please see the values of free t3 free t4 and tsh ..and just see whether you have nodules in any other part of body ..but please go for biopsy ...as far as your query is ..yes it is possible
