My period was missed for 4 months that was my first time My dr did a vaginal ultrasound for me everything was good except having broad ligament Varicosities He prescribed for me luton ampules I got my period 2 days ago I did some tests today and these wre the results : 1- FSH 6.8 mIU/ml 2- LH 5.9 mIU/ml 3- prolactin 6.9 ng/ml 4- E2 : 59 pg/ml 5- TSH 1.7 uIU/ml Are these results normal please ? And what are the possible reasons for missing my period. ?
All your hormone test results are within the range. This means that you have not a hormone imbalance or thyroid gland condition that can explain your absence of menstruation, also called secondary amenorrhea. There are a lot of possible reasons for missing your periods like pregnancy, stress, extreme diets or poor nutrition, sudden weight gain or being very overweight, depression, extreme weight loss, over-exercising.
In these circumstances with a normal OBGYN ultrasound result, no hormone imbalance and broad ligament Varicosities ,my advice is to consult your local doctor and discuss with him about all the potential causes of your amenorrhea. Only if you find the right cause, you can have a proper treatment for your problem.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Elona Xhardo, Endocrinologist
