What Does This Urinalysis Report During Pregnancy Indicate?

I had a dr apt today i am 23weeks and 6 days when they tested my urine i was told i had traces of keliods in my urine when i asked what that meant i was told that my body was eating at my muscle to try and feed tge baby is this accurate? If so what exactly is going on or what can i do to help the situation?

Hi,

It is likely that you mean 'ketones' have been detected in the urine.

Ketones are found when the body is not using or breaking down carbohydrates for energy and using fat for energy instead.

It can happen in persons on a low carb diet and also in diabetics (because they cannot use carbs properly because insulin does not work well).
