What Does This Urinalysis Report Indicate?

Hi doctor, I am 25 weeks pregnant and just undergone with urinalysis..I have 10-30 pus cells , many squamous cells , occasional round cells, few amorphous urates , many mucous threads and many bacteria...is this still normal? Or I have a UTI? What should I do...?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, these findings suggest uroinfection and even if there are no symptoms this should be treated in pregnancy. However, urinoculture should be done to verify the exact bacteria causing this. Most commonly we use Ciprofloxacin or Cephalosporin.

Uroinfection is usually manifested with pain during urination, fever and changes in urination frequency. Also, blood traces may be present in urine which can have odor or color change. You should drink plenty of fluids and take raspberry tea or juice to promote urination till you start with antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
