i am 30 yrs old ..i have been suffering from fever and cough since 8days ago .doctor told me for blood test .here is my report haemoglobin 12.5 ,WBC 12400 cumm,poly 76,lymph,08,eosin 16,ESR 55mm/hrs,s.typhi o negative, s .typhi h positive,s.paratyphi A and s.paratyphi B IS NEGATIVE...i want to know what does the report mean?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... This widal test is significant if you have fever higher than 102 F along with diarrhea or abdominal pain & bloating. Otherwise this widal test is unsignificant & might be some old infection can be giving positive s. typhi antibodies. Also typhoid is normally accompanied by reduction in WBC count, so possibility of typhoid in you is less. Your WBC especially neutrophils (Polymorphs) are elevated, which shows some recent bacterial infection in you. There is elevated ESR which is also sign of infection.
