What Does Tight Sensation On The Left Side Of The Face Indicate?

I have been experiencing tightness on the left side of my face for the past hour., especially around my cheek and the outside corner of my eye. I do not have blurred vision, problems with speech or any pain or tingling in any other part of my body. I have never had this feeling before. Is it something that requires immediate attention or is alright to just contact my doctor tomorrow?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of probably trigeminal neuralgia. Does these symptoms are aggravated by wind, chewing, speaking or brushing the teeth?

If it is so diagnosis is confirmed. For relief of the symptoms you have to take oxcarbazepine or gabapentin. However, for that you have to consult ENT specialist as these are only prescription drugs. He/she will further guide if surgical treatment is required or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
