What Does Tingling Sensation In The Hands And Lower Legs Indicate?

I am 77, very active weightlifter and water exercise(one hour a day) plus weights-retired Marine-extremely fit. Recent tingling in hands and forearms and below knees. My recent ALT is 54 and AST is 56. I started intense exercise program one month ago. Perhaps I am overdoing and hence the issues. PCP today stopped my 20mg a day Lipitor. my A1C is 5.7 and Glucose is 111. Thank you

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are a few things I am considering while reading your query:

1- PCP can cause numbness in the extremities, legs, hands and arms so the numbness you are having might be related to PCP use.

2. because your liver enzymes are a little increased, it makes me wander if you use alcohol. Alcohol also can cause problems with numbness in the extremities due to problems with vitamin B12 absorption that alcohol might cause.

3- diabetes can cause numbness in the arms and feet but in your case you seem to have good levels of glucose and HbA1C.
Still if you have had diabetes for a while it might cause neurological symptoms so you will need a doctor to examine you and decide which of these is most likely the cause of your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
