What Does Typhoid Test Saying T IgM And T IgG Positive Mean?

Hello. My i have not been feeling well for the last 2 days. I had a low fever of 99 and stomach cramps and fatigue. After taking ciprofloxacin for 2 days i feel much better today with light cramps and most of the fatigue is gone. However a typhoid blood test i had says i am T-IgM and T-IgG positive. what does this mean?

Hi,
IgM and IgG are antibodies commonly found in the body. T stands for typhoid. When ever a person gets infected, the first antibody to form is IgM and later on IgG is formed.
If both are present indicates recent and past infection/vaccination.
Widal test would be more helpful. Other tests that can be done include urine culture, stool culture and blood culture. But once antibiotics are started, cultures might be negative and only antibodies titres as in widal test could be helpful.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
