What Does Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Good morning n happy new year.
One male child of 10 year of age heaving severe pain in abdomen n in passing urin. USG report said that left kidney is not visualised n right kidney is 9.6 cm in size n cortical echiginicity is raised and cmd lost. Creatinine is 1.73.
Can u tell me the actual problem n what shuld we do for the same. I am a neighbor of the same guy. He is in Calcutta govt hospital n belongs to a poor family. His father urged me to help n i had done up to some extent.

Hi,

As per mentioned by you his one kidney not seen in ultrasound and there is raised echogenicity of other kidney. Kidney not seen on ultrasound so kidney might be present in pelvic region. Or other congenital conditions like renal agenis or renal ectopia might be present.

So first diagnosis must be confirmed. Its renal agenesis, renal ectopia or pelvic kidney or some other congenital variation is ruled out then only further line of treatment should be carried out. And raised echogenicety with increase creatine level indicate renal parenchymal disease if creatinine level not increased with just raised in echogenicity of kidney. In children echogenecity of kidney is seen raised in normal condition as well.
