What Does Vaginal Bleeding After A Groin Injury Indicate?

I fell into a small iron ball on the top of a chair last night into my lower abdomen groin area & it instantly swelled & bruised. I just woke up & went to the restroom & there was a large amount of red blood in the toilet & very small amount in underwear. How do I know if I just started a period or if this is from the trauma?

Hi,
This bleeding is most likely to be due to the trauma you had before. If you are due for your regular period, it may have been an accompaniment. You should go to see a specialist immediately to see where the bleeding is coming from and get appropriate treatment. It can be anywhere from the anal canal, vagina, cervix or uterus. After excluding local causes, a sonogram should be done to look for any pelvic pathology. Please do not exert or have intercourse until further treatment. Maintain genital hygiene. Ice packs may be applied to the bruised area. Hope this helps.
