Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Vaginal Bleeding After Missing Birth Control Pills?
Me and my husband had to leave during the hurricane, and with all the commotion, I forgot my birth control. I took the firs week, but then missed about 6 days. When we got back, I continued where I left off (I know I should gotten a new pack, but I was busy). We had sex and my period tracker said it was during my fertile week. I had bleeding after missing 3 pills, is that break through bleeding or a period? Also, could I have gotten pregnant? Thank you.
Usually, the periods last for 3-5 days. you said you experienced vaginal bleeding for 3 days, was it during the usual time of menstruation or it was on different dates? Even though it was not on the same date of your usual periods, sometimes the dates change either early or late and it depends on many factors like hormones, medicines, stress etc.
If you have doubts then to know if you are pregnant or not I would suggest you get a urine pregnancy test done. If you observe there is a delay in periods for more than 15-30 days then get a urine pregnancy test done or visit a gynaecologist as she will be advising you whats the next thing you should do and also guide you on the topic of pregnancy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
