What Does Vaginal Bleeding During Pregnancy Indicate?
Hi, I m shamim Nasrin i m 13+ week pregnant suddenly i can see some bleeding from 15th March-18 without pain then i go to my doctor , doctor scan my belly and told me that my low lying placenta . Now i m totaly bed rest but now i can see white thick milky fluid discharge. is it harmful for my baby ?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The condition that your doctor is referring to is known as placenta previa. The painless bleeding is suggestive of the same. Take bed rest, with minimal walking.
Do NOT be worried. In a lot of the cases, the placenta moves upwards as your uterus gets ready for delivery towards your third trimester. Be regular with your antenatal visits to your obstetrician.
With respect to the milky discharge, keep an eye on it. If it persists or has a foul smell, you could go to the doctor to get a swab taken to evaluate it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
