What Does Vomiting Up Of Black And Green Bile Indicate?

A friend of mine has stage 4 cancer. She has suffered kidney failure and now she is at home on morphinecevery 4 hours for pain. She hadn t eaten for 3 weeks but keeps on vomiting up green/ black bile. How much longer can we expect her to live? Apparently the doctors say there is nothing more they can do for her.

Hello,

Presence of black content in the vomits might be due to hemorrage in the stomach. It is difficult to determine how long a patient in these conditions can live. More of an important question then how long she is going to live is how to make her life easier these few moments of her life, relieving pain or other complaints she might have. It is important to follow the instructions of the doctors and help her feel better to improve the quality of the life this remaining days or weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
