What Does Weakness In Back And Neck Along With Dizziness Indicate?

Hi, I am having an issue with weakness in my neck and back, which is causing me to become light headed and feel like fainting. I cant stand more than a few minutes when this happens. It also causes sensitivity to light. Any ideas? I have brought this up to my doctor but he just kinda brushes it off.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Dizziness with weakness in neck and back could be due to spinal/disc problems. Cervical spondylosis can hamper nerve supply to inner ear to cause dizziness.

Rest, avoiding neck movements (cervical collar) and tablet Diziron would give temporary relief.

Please consult a spinal surgeon. X-ray/CT scan/MRI would pin point the cause followed by specific treatment (medicines/physiotherapy/surgery) as per need.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
