What Does Yellow Fluid Discharge From Ear Indicate?
Hey I had an ear infection some months ago. There was acute pain, and blood used to come out along with yellowish fluild.I have consulted a ENT specialist for the same. That worked and got relieved from Pain. However since few days yellow fluid is coming out of my left ear.It stinks bad, there is no pain though.I try my best to to remove fluid using cotton ear budds.
Hi. History of Ear Infection noted. The pain with yellow fluid and blood indicates you had an Acute attack of ASOM- Acute suppurative Otitis Media, wherein the tympanic membrane ruptured to give way to the pus. This got OK with the antibiotics and the treatment you received from your ENT Specialist. The Yellow stinking fluid from the left ear is again Suppurative Otitis Medis. IF this has happened for the second time, it is better to get the CT scan of the Sinuses and Mastoids ( ears ) and get a proper long course of antibiotics, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory medicines till this is resolved completely. If the CT scan shows a condition called Cholesteaotoma. the only answer is Surgery. Do not instill any ear drops , they do not help. Do not put ear budds, with it you actually insert more infection.
