my wife is 22 weeks 4 days pregnant,,,yesterday we had a scanning..the impression shows - ALIVE SINGE INTRA UTERINE FOETUS UNSTABLE LIE WITH HEAD DOWN WITH AVERAGE GESTATIONAL AGE OF 22 WEEKS 4 DAYS. May i want to know is their any problem for my baby...thank you very much

Thanks for writing in.

The lie is the direction in which the long axis of the baby lies. It can be horizontal (transverse), vertical (longitudinal) or oblique at the time of scanning. At 22 weeks the lie is variable as the fluid quantity is high and the baby moves around in amniotic fluid. Please do not worry. The lie becomes important just before delivery when to know the position of the baby.
