What Food Can Be Taken To Protect Liver While Taking Itraconazole?

My 16 year old daughter started taking itraconazole for her toenail fungus that she had since she was 3 years old. I heard that medication is very hard on the liver and even thought she is very healthy and her blood test came out ok, should I give her something to protect her liver? Should I give her milk thistle? Or is there any type of food she can take with that medication in order to protect her liver? Thank you, Ingrid

Hi,Welcome to Health care magic forum.
It is absurd to use some drug for skin infection for so long of 13 years. If some drug is used for some time, if it is not cured, it should be stopped and use some other drug, for limited time.
For skin and nail infections the topical preparations can be used for longer times. For toe nail infections if the infection is not controlled, usually the nail is removed and antibiotics are used for cure of the wound.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
