What Gives Rise To Dizziness And Nausea?

Hi

My daughter is 11 years old and has sudden epidodes where she goes dizzy then throws up, then she is fine again. She has been tested for diabeties and her blood sugar levels are fine. I am wondering if it could be a simple thing like hormones as she is developing now and puberty has kicked in. Any ideas?

Hi there,

Yes, you are right. The symptoms your daughter is having are due to hormones as she is developing now (entering puberty).

However, before confirming hormones, if I was her caring doctor would exclude other health problems:
- heartburn/gastritis
- urological problems (urine analysis)
- bowel problems (abdominal ultrasound, examination of stool for ova/parasites)
- anemia (complete blood work)
- epilepsy (EEG and neurologist consultation).

If everything is fine, then, I can confirm it is related to hormonal changes.

Hope it helped!
