What Happens To Brain Tissue Years After A Stroke And Does The Necrotic Tissue Get Cleared, Leave A Cavity, Or Remain In The Brain?

Hello, Im interested in the brain and just wanted to know what happens to brain tissue stroke. My current understanding is that the tissue undergoes necrosis following ischemia. What happens to that tissue after 10 years. Is the dead cell matter, proteins and other material cleared out from the brain leaving a cavity? is there a residual structure left behind. Or does the dead matter remain in the brain? Thanks for taking the time to read.
