General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is possible that there may inflammation of the blood vessels or it may be due to autoimmune conditions. Blood tests may be helpful to identify the presence of either of these, he may be able to see a rheumatologist and a vascular specialist when he goes to Philadelphia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
