What Is A Lump In The Neck Suggestive Of?

Hello, my name is lindsey. I am a 21 year old, female. I have have had a lump in my neck for about 5 weeks now. It is right next to my throat. ( near hyoid bone) it is really palpable when I tilt my head back. It is probably as round as a penny. Just curious as to what this could be. Went to GP and she said she thinks it is a lymph node and to let her know in a week if it changes, if it doesn t she will Send me to ENT doctor. I don t feel any other lumps or bumps, I am not sick, have not felt sick at all. I feel pretty normal, just have this random lump in my neck. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You can wait for one week for resolution of this enlarged reactive node. If no resolution than detailed workup needed especially FNAC of that lymph node should be done to check whether it's inflammatory swelling or some tumor responsible.

If swelling don't resolve than plan FNAC investigation and You can revert back with report once done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
