What Is A Lump On The Neck Next To The Jaw Suggestive Of?
Hello, I have a lump on the side of my neck under my ear and next to my jaw, I have no pain, no signs of infection but I do keep getting a nose bleed every day. The lump is about 3 cm and I noticed it 3 weeks ago when it was about 1 cm. I also keep getting a rash on my face and neck near the lump. I work with RN s and they keep telling me it nothing. Should I have it looked at. I m 34.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of lump on the neck next to the jaw which is indication of SIALOLITHIASIS that is formation of crystalline stones in the duct of the submandibular salivary gland which is located under the jaw line. As the duct gets obstructed and when the food is taken salivation increases and due to obstruction the saliva flows back into the gland rather than flowing to mouth causing swelling. The symptoms can also occur due to lymph node infection and swelling .You should consult an oral physician as well as ENT specialist and get evaluated and if the stones are superficial that located in the duct in the area of the floor of mouth the physician can palpate it and remove by pushing towards the duct orifice.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
