What Is A Sharp Pain In Upper Abdomen Suggestive Of?

Hello Dr Rynne While eating dinner last night, I experienced a sharpish pain in my upper left abdomen. It got worse over the evening, but I had a heating pad on it which seemed to make it more bearable. The pain persisted into the night, morning and part of the afternoon. I have had intestinal blockages before, but this was different. My small intestine has been surgically shortened by 5ft. Do you think this could be gall bladder?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi dear ,
i understand your concern,
gall bladder present on right side of body so, it cannot be gallbladder disease.
as you mentioned u alredy had surgery ,
i can be due to leakage from site of surgey, new obstuction, renal stone ,can be due to indigestion,........
we need further more history to get appropriate diagnosis,
and we need to run specifc test like usg, barium meal,xray,mri...

so consult general surgeon who performed this operation your problem will be solved.
these are minor complication inform your doctor soon ,ie dont make them big.
i am sure it is not gall bladder.
thank you.
