What Is A White Spot As Shown In Hip MRI Suggestive Of?

I have a white spot on my hip MRI. My surgeon tried to aspirate it to rule out a bacterial infection before he would do hip replacement on me. He was unable to get more than a few drops of dilute blood. What else could the mass be? And why do I have to wait until 3 months after a cortisone shot to have surgery?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an old and healed abscess. Another possibility is a degenerated lipoma.

You can go for an MRI directed fine needle biopsy to make a diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
