What Is An Alternative Of Lithium For Treatment Of Bi-polar Disorder?

My son is 4 and lives with us..he is currently taking seroquel X-rays..and experiences so much agitation he feels like he could explode. He has been treated for bi-polar disorder for over 20 years and can no longer take lithium due to the damage it was doing to his kidneys. Can you give me an alternative? Consult a psychiatrist and get evaluated. You can consider drugs like SSRI which is considered more effective and safe than lithium.
