Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I got my 6 weeks old daughter vaccinated for DTaP with Pentaxim. She is due for her next vaccination 10th week in September. Pentaxim is not available where I live so please suggest a substitute for the same and also advise if I can switch over to DTwP wholecell vaccine for DTP like Pentavac SD from DTaP vaccines like Pentaxim considering its cost and effectiveness. Please also suggest some good vaccines pneumonia. Regards, Deepak Gupta Ph0000
An alternative to Penta vaccine is Hexa vaccine which is now replacing Penta and has safe variant of rota virus which also doesn't cause much fever post vaccine and no gastric upset compared to Penta.
For pneumonia, Previnaar is available for pneumococcal all strains, and Influevac for H influenza.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
