What Is An Episode Of Suffocation, Breathlessness And Vomiting Sensation Suggestive Of?

I had to go to the hospital yesterday because I suffocated in the shower, it was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. First I felt like I was going to puke before I got in the shower but I didn t think anything of it. When I got in it started getting hard to breath so I switched the hot water to warm but it just got worse, I started seeing flashes of black and I felt like I was going to fall down. I couldn t get any oxygen and I felt like I was going to die. I had to sit on the edge of the bathtub until I could breath and stand up without my legs shaking.i couldn t even finish washing my hair because I felt like if I stayed in there any longer I would have died. My mom saw me when I got out and said my face was grey and my lips were blue so she took me to the hospital... For 2 years I ve had bad heart palpitations but every time I go to the hospital or the doctor thy say there s nothing wrong with me but I really do feel like I m getting worse. Does this seem normal to you?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The narrated symptoms are suggestive of carbon monoxide poisoning as most possible cause and must be treated in hospital set up with best ICU back up. Primary care with 100 % or hyperbaric oxygen is most rewarding in this instance. And better get your gas heater checked once reaching home which is the culprit of the issue to prevent further such type of episode.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
