What Is Best To Relieve The Ear Pain?

My 11 year old granddaughter weighs 85# and has a throbbing earache. It is nearly 10 pm and very expensive to go to a doctor at this time. What is best to do to relieve the pain? She is not tolerating it at all and is panicky. Will the heating pad do any harm? Also warm olive oil?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hi and thanks for the query,
it is probably infection.
you can relieve the pain with tylenol after checking the dose.
pain can also be relieved by using decongestant nose drops.
these drops open the eustachian tube that connects the nose to the ear.
frequently this tube is blocked during ear infections leading to pain.
instill 3 drops in each nostril 3 times daily for 5 days.
please see a doctor to confirm the diagnosis. she may require antibiotics as well.
reagrds,
Dr Rajkishori.
