What Is Bloating Sensation In The Upper Abdomen Suggestive Of?

I felt a balloon like sensation in my upper abdomen right under my rib cage that subsided somewhat when I pushed it back in . Since then I feel full. Pressure in that area just to the right of center below my rib cage. I can also feel my heartbeat if I just leave my hand there. Dr is sending me for a CT scan. He doesn t think it s a hernia.

Hello,

Bloating is generally a sing of a stomach problem which can be gastritis of peptic ulcer or if a local mass (growth) happens locally.

Depending on your age and what your doctor felt when he examined you he might ask for certain tests and examinations to rule out certain conditions.

The CT scan of the area will make sure to rule out masses (growths) in the liver, pancreas, kidneys and other organs. it rule out problems with the stomach, maybe a gastroendoscopy (a tube and a camera from the mouth is inserted in the stomach and examines the stomach for gastritis, ulcer or other problems).
