What Is Bone Grafting And How Safe Is It?

hi my name is lalita and I have had a fmer bone fracture and this was then operated and a plate fixed on the same , now from last 2 weeks i am getting lots of pain and have got an xray dont and the doc says it needs bone grafting ? what is that and how safe is that
