What Is Cardiomegaly And Its Prognosis?
hello doctor im a iddm mother my baby is 7 days in nicu,today with x-ray the doctor told cardiomegaly.his heart rate with in limit,blood sugar on control,saturating well,but tachypnic 60-70 on range,weigh 3.442kg.i want to know what is cardiomegaly & its outcome

A cardiomegaly means enlargement of heart shadow on x-ray. It may have many causes including enlargement of some cardiac chamber(s), fluid around heart or some artifact. At times incorrect technique may also give rise to cardiomegaly. However since there is tachypnea the child should be evaluated further depending upon the clinical clues.
