What Is Causing Swollen, Tender Breasts ?

I am 20 years old. I have recently been suffering from very swollen breasts, including the areola and nipple area. I am not pregnant, nursing, on any form of contraceptive, or close to beginning a new menstrual cycle. I have had these symptoms for almost a week, and would like to know what is causing them. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thank you.

Could be an inflammation of the gland. Can get it easily treated with antinflammatories and antibiotics, if necessary. Report to a general surgeon or gynecologist.
