What Is Causing My Abnormal Menstrual Bleeding?

Hi, Im having an unusual period. Instead of my usual red flow, im just getting black stringy bits of what looks like old blood clots? I've never had this before without there also being normal red blood, but there is no colour in the discharge around this. Do I need to go to a dr's or is it normall?
