What Is Causing My Shortness Of Breath?

Hello, I am one month post carotid subclavian bypass surgery, I have been short of breath since about the second day home from hospital, surgeon just looked at me funny and said he did not know why i had shortness of breath, sometimes i cannot even lay down, other times i cannot talk , any suggestions, thank you for your help

is he the heart patient as well or chronic smoker, history of cough with sputum.
is there history of getting up from sleep associated panic, air hunger, if yes it strong suggest heart problems.
so as you mentioned it increases on lying down it can be heart related.
so to confirm that you should get your echocardiography done to know your status of heart function. Also get chest x-ray done.
In treatment consume low salt diet and restrict fluids and see the response.
